For some reason, there have been many moments in my life when I've struggled with inner loneliness. No matter how many people were around me or how much fun I was having, I fought with that deep dark feeling of isolation.
I remember the night I decided to become a follower of Christ. I was sitting alone with a friend in the second row of the bench chairs during a youth service on a Friday night, and I was grappling with guilt and shame from my past. I felt so despondent yet curious to know how it would be to change my lifestyle and follow Jesus. I finally decided to go up to the altar when the pastor made a special calling for those that wanted to accept Jesus as their Lord and savior. I cried out to Jesus and asked Him to come into my heart, to forgive me and cleanse me, so that I may be allowed to feel that He is real and with me. At the moment, something extravagant happened. I knew God's presence, and love was real because, for the first time, I didn't feel alone after receiving God's greatest gift, His holy spirit in me...
Many months passed and I thought I would never have to fight feelings of loneliness again. But I was wrong!
At a point in my journey of becoming Christian, I hit one the hardest seasons of my life. I lost my health, many friends and family, I lost a sense of who I was through the tribulations I was trying to bypass. However, in the midst of my deepest heartache and suffering, God has used my tears to heal my shattered heart, and in His goodness, He gave me what I longed for — a cure for my loneliness! It was hard to see He was working in my life until I was apart from everything and did not have anyone else to run to but God. It took me a while to completely surrender to Jesus, the only One who will never forsake me or leave me.
Jesus mentions to us in John 15:4-5: “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
In other words, to cure my loneliness, I needed time with God! I was brokenhearted, and that took a lot of time to heal. The only way to complete the process is to connect with Him. Sometimes as Christians we will need to be alone. We have to eliminate ourselves from the masses. Yes, there is a time to have to bond with other believers, but we also have to implement a chance to have communion with our Lord. Some may ask, "How about if you’re alone?" Maybe you don’t have many friends or family, or perhaps you are trying to find your worth. I know it can cause pain mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually; Sometimes when we are alone, it can hinder us and cause us to lose sight of God. However, feeling apart is a time when we are to build a stronger relationship with the Lord by moving closer to Him in prayer. Only God can fill the emptiness you are battling inside. If we keep our focus on God, we would recognize and understand that we are never alone. God is always nearby. God is working in your life for a purpose. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11) Therefore, do not ever think He’s not with you because His holy presence goes before you.
Do not ever feel hesitant to ask God to give you comfort. Find a quiet place like your room, or a park. Talk to God like you would with your best friend. When you start building your prayer life, you will feel more of His beautiful presence in your life. The peace that God gives us when we dedicate our time and attention to Him is indescribable. His peace makes you cease worrying about everything that is troubling you, and it feels as if all the tons of weight you once had on your shoulders has vanished. He reminds us that He loves us and He will take care of us. Just thinking about it makes me smile.
God is faithful. God is peace. God is Love. Rely on His strength and trust in Him. Find the positive outcomes and blessings in all situations. See how can you use your circumstances to grow and blossom into the beautiful soul that you are intended to be by God. On that note, have an amazing and blessed day! I hope that this post can impact someone that is fighting or has fought with loneliness at a certain point in their life. NEVER GIVE UP! For God never abandons his children, and He does not allow a particular obstacle or tribulation to occur in your life for which you cannot handle.
And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed." - Deuteronomy 31:8
"Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10
The peace of Christ to all. xoxo ❤️
