Be A Dreamer

Many people might ask themselves, "What does it truly mean to dream?"
This is a question that always runs through my mind, and I decided to bring it up because of the shirt I have purchased that quotes, "BE A DREAMER."

What was your first dream? Do you remember it? Are you living your dream? If not, why not and what are you doing about it? Have you changed or abandoned your dream? Have you allowed conflicting circumstances or cynical people to steal your ideas? Just because someone doesn’t see your vision as you do doesn’t mean it wasn’t intended to be. Perhaps they can't see your dream because it's not theirs. Way too many believers capitulate themselves to a life of missed dreams and callings because of what somebody else said about their dreams.

Have you ever wanted something incredibly bad that you would do whatever is required to obtain it? If you don’t dare to dream and keep doing the same routine, then expect to get what you’ve been getting from that routine because "you reap what you sow." When you begin to dream, things start to shift, and the first change is within you. Maybe, it’s time for you to make a decision. Remember, nothing will change until you change. Here is some personal advice that I have been implementing in my life to remain on the path to achieving my dreams.

1. Understand the absolute necessity of having God direct your path in overcoming all the stumbling blocks of your life.
2. Recognize and overcome your obstacles.
3. Accept mistakes and disappointments, learn from them, move forward, not looking back.

However, some would ask, "How do you overcome obstacles?" The word of God says:

Psalm 34:19 NKJV:
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all."

Tell God what you’re handling, and ask Him how to manage it.

Psalm 142:2 NKJV:
“I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble."

Exodus 18:19:
"Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and God will be with you: Stand before God for the people, so that you may bring the difficulties to God.”

If you want to be used for greater purposes in the Kingdom of God you need to handle the temporary problems that are occurring in your life now.

One more thing and this is crucial! You will either succeed in your dreams or not based on the people you associate with. Make a list of your closest friends and associates. Now ask yourself these few questions:

1. Does your friend have their own dream? Are they pursuing their dreams?
3. Does your friend get excited when you share your visions with them?
4. Does your friend have a plan on how to achieve their goals?
5. Does your friend exchange ideas, scriptures and thoughts with you on how to make your dreams come true?
6. Does your friend motivate you to achieve your dream or are you always driving them toward theirs?
7. What's the negative or positive influence this friend has on your life?

It only makes sense to associate yourself with people who can encourage, advise, edify and build you up as you pursue your dreams without having to envy or bring down others. Surround yourself with people who also have a positive vision and a goal of what they want their lives to be for 1 Corinthians 15:33-34 (NKJV) says, “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits. Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God...” Move with people who motivate you to go beyond your comfort zone. Who could and would produce you to think outside and beyond your imagination. Who drives you to believe in possibilities instead of difficulties. Who provokes you to look for opportunities instead of reasons to fail. Who advises, and encourages you to be and do more than you previously did. These are the people who should be by your side. I’m telling you through experience that your attitude, speech, and behavior are affected by your buddies. Therefore, If you’re devoted to elevating your life then choose wisely and keep people who have their act together mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.
