"El Mejor Sueno" : El Salvador Experience

It's my goal to visit as many countries as possible around the world. My reasons for wanting to visit this country with my own eyes run much deeper than just wanting a stamp on my passport; I went to visit the wonderful Pueblo De Carolina, San Miguel to meet all the beautiful people that reside in that area. El Salvador is Central America's smallest country. It is filled with amazing culture, landscape, and more. Here, I will share with you guys a glimpse of my favorite things about El Salvador from the time I've spent there.

The Scenery
El Salvador is a lovely country with many natural phenomena and a perfect place for adventurous tourists to travel to and explore. Its rich green terrain, rock fields, several volcanoes, and endless palm trees reminded me of the Islands that we tend to see in movies.
El Salvador has a tropical climate which consists of wet and dry seasons, and hot and humid temperatures. Many floods occur when it rains.
There are buses for locals to get around but in the small towns, we also saw trucks that serve locals with an open ride for the price of a quarter. Driving around the country, I noticed that every Gas Station that had a convenience store attached had a private security armed guard out front and indoors. This keeps would-be criminals away. There is a lot of poor-on-poor crime, so all restaurants have armed security out front that way they can stop any provocations.

Food: Delicious Pupusas and More
Pupusas are delicious, traditional corn tortillas filled with frijoles(refried beans), cheese, and any combination there is on the menu. It is also served with a tasty cabbage slaw and a splendid tomato sauce. The best part of it is that they cost less than USD 1.00 each. On the first day of my arrival, I filled myself up with three pupusas of queso con frijoles. I couldn't get enough of them! In general, simple, delicious meals cost under $5-$10, especially at street vendors. So, take advantage of it when you can.
This dish is a Nutella Crepe from Tartaleta. It was delicious!

Fun Fact: It was my first time drinking from an actual coconut.

The People
Salvadorian people are some of the kindest you'll encounter in the region. (well, at least the ones I have met lol) They are resilient, welcoming, simple, and very friendly. Salvadorians love to share their country's culture and love with their visitors such as myself.

In some Spanish-speaking countries, you can get by without actually having to speak Spanish. On the other hand, El Salvador is an entirely different story. If you do not speak Spanish, I don't know how you would be able to navigate yourself throughout the day because very few people speak English. El Salvador is the first place where I didn't speak English and boy was it a bit tough for me since I am a bit timid speaking other languages other than English. Overall, I felt at home when meeting everyone from Carolina.

Although many might pessimistically view El Salvador as a place that is not safe, many people miss out on the immense natural beauty that is available and the super friendly, happy, and appreciative people that reside there. When it comes to deciding where to travel next, my advice is not to let people influence your perspective. Decide for yourself where you want to go and how you like it. It is the perfect place to experience your way around Central America. I recommend a visit here. Go and see it for yourself and see what's it like. It will positively surprise you.
